THE 90 Day Artist Momentum Builder
Through this process, emerging and mid-career visual artists will get better visibility on their work to increase chances of grants, residencies, shows and sales.
Because it’s not all luck.
I’m Téa, an art consultant, communications strategist and creative producer.
I help artists up-level their career by getting opportunities to expose your work to the right people.
With strategic communication, accountability, and the inside scoop, you’ll have the best chance for your work seen by the right people and organizations who can take your career to the next level.
In the art world, it’s “who you know” and “right place, right time” that gets you to that higher status or big show.
And honestly, that's true.
But what they don't tell you is that you have way more control over both than you think.
THE ART WORLD IS UNPREDICTABLE…
BUT ARTIST OPPORTUNITIES ARE here FOR YOU
You just need to make sure that your work is where the art world “gatekeepers” are looking.
While the right person might stumble upon your work by chance, taking action with the right strategy gives you the best chance at landing the shows, sales, and funding you want.
I’ve seen it happen with my own eyes.
I work with a performance artist, and we apply to many grants…
one of which was through Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE). She built a relationship with the director, and yet, she was rejected from the grant. However, through the rejection emails (side bar: rejection is 100% normal as an artist), she almost passed up an email from LACE asking her to make a commissioned performance for their upcoming exhibition alongside legendary artists like Barbara T. Smith.
What made this happen? Relationships. Applying to opportunities. An artist’s name appearing often in front of the same decision makers. A history of high caliber work to make it worth their time to look.
And how did they see her work? From the grant application that she got a rejection from, her easily navigable website, her consistent professional newsletters, her high quality social media posts, and the genuine relationships she’s built throughout her career.
So it’s not just luck. It’s strategy and action. How can you do that, too?
Whether your practice is performance, painting, sculpture or interdisciplinary:
1. Let’s get clear about your goals.
2. Reflect your artist identity in your online presence to make you stand out.
3. Elevate how you present your work so art professionals know you’re serious.
4. Connect to ideal opportunities because there are many that can lead you to the next level or get you the funding you’ve wanted.
5. Network with meaningful contacts who would care about the work you do. This is the most important part to moving up in your career.
6. Keep your momentum going with support, accountability and an action plan. Consistency is key. Once the ball is rolling, keep growing it and build on your successes.
This program will help you build a solid foundation with repeatable actions that you can take every month to get you to your next art career goal.
